marian87.deviantart.com/ surprised me by making an awesome 3D computer model of one of my made-up car designs. I was very impressed, and quite flattered that he chose to make a model of one of my designs when there are so many cars to choose out there. it was great seeing a proper 3D version of my idea, from different angles - it looked just how I imagined it.

And that made me wonder. I wonder if anybody else would be interested in having a go. I mean, if you like cars, have nothing better to do, and would be interested of course.

I'm not asking for, or desperately wanting people to do this - no obligation at all. But I sure would be interested in seeing models of some of them, and appreciative of those who want to make them.

If you are up for a mission I've compiled a little list of the various car designs I've made, a link to the picture on DA, and a little description saying whether the design is good or may need some reworking.
Whether "It would be interesting" , "it'd be nice" or "I would love" to see a model of one of my drawings kinda hint which ones I'd love to see done first, however I'm not asking anybody to do this, so if you're kind enough to, and want to - you pick any one you like of the lot.

Thanks dudes :)

2008

- TVR Orthrus bit.ly/HCdLis
Design for a new TVR. Front and back are fine - but side view needs reworking: everything from the end of the door backwards looks a bit too squished up, needs a more cerbera-like look from the side. Would be nice to see an improved version of this.
- Mazda RX9 bit.ly/HD5hWp
Idea for the next 'RX' car. Generally happy with this one, though have realised I accidentally gave it a fuel filler cap on both sides.
- Audi A9 bit.ly/HA16LT
Top-of-the-range Audi. Looks fine from front and back, though maybe a little too tall from the side - or maybe the wheels are too small.

2009

- Porsche 998 bit.ly/HJVQUR
1990s style sporty Porsche design. Front and back are as imagined, though side looks a bit too warped and curved. Could do with some good judgement to make it look better from this angle.
- Mitsubishi Eclipse bit.ly/IxgAz0
Alternate design for a modern Eclipse. Generally happy, though the rear is too tall in both side and rear views.
- Ford Rhinoceros bit.ly/IimJwQ
Generally happy with design, though does look awfully boxy and square from the side.
- Rolls Royce Flying Phantom bit.ly/I5AS13
Just for fun, a flying Rolls. No changes needed, turned out right first time.
- Flying Porsche bit.ly/IWag0k
Same thing, just a porsche. Side air intake may want improving, rear needing a bit more shading to show the shape seen from above.

2010

- Audi Batmobile bit.ly/Iwtrz7
'If Audi made the batmobile'. Happy with the design, there's just a lack of various angles. Imagine the rear being somewhat similar to the Tim Burton batmobile.
- Audi RT bit.ly/HE7rTe
Idea for an Audi V8 muscle car. Generally happy, could do with some good judgement on minor adjustments.
- Bugatti 570 bit.ly/HNf1Je
Idea for a modern Bugatti, but keeping the retro design, à la Morgan EvaGT. Happy with the design, no changes desired, would love to see a model of this.
- Implacable bit.ly/IimVMA
1930s car design. No changes needed.
- Vanguard bit.ly/HCe90w
1930s car design. No changes needed.
- Avenger bit.ly/HA1ytu
1930s car design. No changes needed.

2011

- Black Car bit.ly/Hx8OSj
1930s car design. Based on a lego model I made. The lego model looked awesome, but somehow it just looks wrong on paper. Could probably look good if the proportions (especially width) were made more realistic.
- TVR Basilisk bit.ly/HA1Oc2
modern TVR design. Pretty much happy with the design, no changes needed I think. Would be interesting to see a model of this.
- Bentley Arnage II bit.ly/HA1OZn
Modern-retro design for a far more conservative new Bentley, that actually looks like a Bentley. Front and back are good, side may want a little good judgement tending to everything behind the windows (suposed to be a bit like the modern Rolls from the side)

2012

- TVR Hydra bit.ly/I5BPGJ
new TVR design. Probably my favourite made-up car design yet, completely happy with design, no changes desired, would love to see a 3D model of this.
- Auburn speeder bit.ly/IJJmfg
Just for fun futuristic flying Auburn speedster. Happy with design, no changes needed.
- Mercedes SLC600
1990s styled Mercedes sports car. Happy with design from all angles, no changes needed. Would be interesting to see a model of.
- Jaguar XJ200 bit.ly/Ixi5gQ
1990s styled Jaguar sports car. Happy with design from all angles, would be nice to see this one modelled.
- Cadillac Astronomer bit.ly/HCetMX
1950s styled Cadillac, happy with design from all angles. Would be interesting to see a model of this one.
- Bugatti 102 bit.ly/HA24rt bit.ly/HtQdaS
1950s style 'revival' Bugatti design. Which has been made into a superb model by marian87.deviantart.com/ , which I totally approve of and which kinda got me going on this idea...

About time I did another journal entry - it's been over a year!

Well, 2011 has been pretty cool in regards with drawings. My 'to draw' list always seems big - sometimes a lot gets drawn in a relatively short time, but then again sometimes I get lots of ideas at once that I add back onto it.

But I think generally it's gone down last year - at the time of writing, I've done 101 drawings this year - a new record, by far.

And here's what I still plan to get done, not necessarily next year but whenever...

- Lambothon II - I finished my Lamborghini concept marathon. Then realised there were about as many cool protoypes I'd missed as ones as I'd drawn. So I'll be doing them at some point. These will get done probably sooner rather than later.
---> DONE ! (and even a third Lambothon too, of the pre-Audi production models...)

- 1950's american cars; mostly concept ideas too. I've always considered this a big, daunting collection of pictures I'd only draw after a long time - but now I realise it's no bigger than my TVR-O-Thon or Lambothon. Still, not highest priority. But it would be awesome to get done next year, and easily doable should I find enough time.

- you may have noticed every so often I've done drawn some made-u^p ideas for concept cars... a few of them have been building up, too - they'll have to go down on paper.

-  Feeling inspired, and in the same vein as 'the canyon chase' (fav.me/d4eveiw) I plan on making a whole load of (unrelated) drawings that are big, detailed, shows scenes from my imagination, are inspired by a mix mostly of history/science fiction/fantasy. Though these will all be big, long projects so will unlikely happen one after the other like my car drawings often do.

- and of course other completely random stuff that pops up now and again.

Update !

3 min read
Yo,

Update time !

So, I've gotten (for now at least) all my concept cars out of my head and on to paper - the last three with the blueprints being a little more special as they're actually designed around a real car.

Right at this moment, I'm working on my halloween costume. Last year's halloween costume was Wes Borland. This year is going to be way more epic... I will post photos as it comes along. Right now there's not a lot I can do, it's the kind of thing that will all come together very quickly at once right at the end.

As I may have mentioned before, I rarely do a drawing on a bored, spur of the moment idea (unlike, say, life-sized darth maul statues or fully functional arcade cabinets...) ; when I have an idea I add it to my ever-growing "to draw" list.

So here's a quick look at what will be coming in the next month/year/decade/lifetime :

- Lamborghini Concept-O-Thon. Lamborghini made about twice as many concept cars as production cars - and, besides the recent ones, they all look really cool. Yes, I don't like the recent ones. Come on, whose dumbass idea was it to base a car off a bloody jet plane ??? It looks stupid. Cars should look like cars, not bleedin' planes. Except Messerschmitt cars, they're cool. I'd take one of them over the Reventon any day. The lambo concept-a-thon won't include every concept (some were pretty boring) but will - if I ever find the sketch that seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth - add one of my own lamborghini concepts, which I was quite happy with... until I lost it.

- 1950's american cars; mostly concept ideas too. American cars were only cool in the 50's (no offense meant... I'll rephrase that: they were at their coolest in the 50s). This is a fairly large project, so it's daunting, and thus has very low priority.

- Star Wars drawings. One day I'll eventually complete the project I started when I was about 12. Slowly but surely, I'll do a couple every so often. -----> DONE !

- One or more of the cars from the film THX 1138. I was about to give up on that film because it was boring; and then some of the coolest cars to hit the screen appeared so I carried on watching. -----> DONE !

- TVR-O-Thon II. As I was asked to draw some more TVRs if I got time, I have a second lot lined up to draw. I don't like drawing the same car twice, so these are older and obscure models. -----> DONE !

- Then there's a load of random ideas I've collected over time; some based on things that have happened. I won't give a list, but these'll come as and when, probably between things.

Yo homies,

Dude, I haven't added an entry here in ages. Probably cuz nobody ever reads it lol...

Anyway here I am, now at the university of edinburgh, pretty boring cuz everything fun is back home in france, so i'm stuck here with nothing better to do than watch films, play games and do drawings.

Well at least that keeps you all satisfied with the art side of things :)

The way it usually works is if I've got plenty to do, I won't draw much (though after a while I want to get back to it) ; and when there's nothing to do (like now) I do lots. Which is why I'm churning them out every 3 days or so at the moment. My yearly average seems to be about one a week, so that makes sense seeing as the summer holidays (spent back home) will probably be quite drawing-deficient.

Anyway, since the end of january (since coming back to university in other words) I've started my 2010 drawings, and at the time of writing, have done 14 in just over a month - pretty fast. I've been going through my "to draw" list (half of which is just immortalising stupid in-jokes with friends onto paper) ; slowly adding to it in the meantime (though at a slower rate than I cross them off). Once I'll have gone through that stuff (which is the more imaginative stuff) I'll probably go back to mindlessly drawing random cars that I like, and doing further drawings for my nearly-a-decade-running, seemingly neverending, star wars folder (I made the title cards for them on blank pieces of A4 paper, ready for the drawings, about a decade ago, and since I'm one of those people who likes to finish what he has begun, I *will* finish them, no matter over how many years). If along the way I get some more random, funny ideas they'll probably take priority over the rest. If anybody else has some funny ideas feel free to put them forward - Drunken Mutant Ninja Hobos was a friend's idea, and that turned out to be a pretty decent drawing.

Another thing is I changed the favourite deviation on my page - I won't bother writing why twice, all you need to do is move your eyes to the left side of the screen and read the little description/explanation under it.

If you like my work and want to keep track, feel free to add my to your watch (no, I'm not begging for watchers, I'm on this site to share my work, my life goal is not to "get lots of watchers") as I'm turning them out at a pretty decent rate at the moment.

Feel free (hint hint) to purchase any prints - all of my work is available in a whole range of sizes and options.

Alternatively, if you prefer to go direct and buy original artwork, send me an e-mail... cheaper for you, more profit for me... a win-win situation :)

(not that I'm expecting anybody to do that lol)

Anyway, have fun !

Hi everybody,

Just to say... my deviantart shop is now open !

All of my friends keep saying I should sell my drawings... so I finally got round to setting up a print store here on deviantart.

After hours and hours of individually submitting each of the (at the time) 300 or so drawings and paintings (if there's some mass-all-at-once submit thing then I couldn't find it...) ; it's finlly done !

All of my work; old and new is available in :
-Photo Prints (up to highest resolution available)
-Postcards
-Wrapped Canvases (also up to biggest size possible)
-Greeting Cards
Also, for those in high enough resolution;
-Puzzles
-Fine Art Prints (up to biggest size availmable for the resolution)

In future, I will try to scan my work at high enough resolution to offer a bigger choice of print sizes for you :)

Two of my drawings - coincidentally, two of my favourite ; Wes Borland and Boba Fett (both in the 2007 album) ; were scanned in ultra-high resolution and are therefore available to buy in *every* size !

My shop doesn't look very good on the first page; that's because the pages progress in date order; so the first pages are the old rubbish drawings , and the further you go the better they get, until you get to the reall good ones :)

Please support a poor artist with no income :)

Dan the Man

(P.S. if you wish to have a picture on something else, ex. mousemat or coaster, just tell me and I'll edit the print so it's available for you on that type of product)
